This program will strengthen your skills concerning the use of documents at family law evidentiary
hearings and trials. The focus is on the admissibility of documents through declarations and live
testimony. We’ll be exploring the broad range of documents and “writings” as defined by the
Evidence Code to cover any form of communication.

This segment covers state and federal taxation issues as they arise in marriage dissolution

After Valli, several court of appeal decisions have construed its holding on the subject of
transmutation. This session provides a comprehensive review of transmutation law, integrating
Valli into the analysis alongside a look at post-Valli decisions. We also address remaining issues
related to transmutation law, Fam. C. §2640 reimbursement, and title presumptions.

This segment reviews the Domestic Violence Prevention Act (DVPA) and considers its implications
in other areas such as support, custody and attorney fees. Enrollees will organize their approach to
DVPA cases based on a proven framework created by Judge Lewis for attorney and judicial education.

Learn important considerations and pitfalls to avoid in drafting prenuptial, postnuptial and marital
settlement agreements. This program focuses on drafting techniques, preparing agreements that
will survive court challenges, and effective strategies for attacking agreements in court.

MCLE credit for this activity has been granted by the State Bar of California in the amount of 6 hours per day, for a total of 18 hours
